GOOD DEEDS IN FASHION!
Georgia Shiers, Finchley United Synagogue member, is using her forthcoming Bat Mitzvah to help with the latest Project Chesed collection: Old Clothes…New way to Give.
Georgia has done a variety of Chesed over the past year including delivering Pesach Food Parcels to US members and visiting seniors at Hammerson House. She is now on a mission to collect mobile phones, old clothes and football kits from the guests coming to her Bat Mitzvah on 30th May.
Project Chesed will be able to turn the mobile phones into cash to invest in US community cares initiatives. The clothes will go to All Aboard as part of the new collection launched this weekend and due to run until July. Project Chesed is teaming up with an organisation called Kit Aid to send the football kits Georgia collects out to Africa.
Commenting Georgia said: “We have already collected some bags of clothes and mobile phones. We hope that many of my Bat Mitzvah guests will bring more with them on the 30th. I am delighted that I’ve been able to use my special Bat Mitzvah year to help others.”
Thanking Georgia for all her hard work, Candice Woolfson, Director of Project Chesed said: “This week sees the launch of our clothing collection in partnership with All Aboard. In partnership with many of our shuls we are offering an easier way for people to turn their old clothes and accessories into money for the wonderful UK registered Jewish charities that All Aboard supports. We hope many members of our community will take advantage of this new way to give.”
