OVERWHELMING ‘YES’ AS LUTON VOTES TO JOIN THE US
Yesterday afternoon Luton Hebrew Congregation voted overwhelmingly at their EGM to apply to join the United Syngagogue.
Speaking after the vote, Brian Green, Chairman said: “We are delighted that our membership has voted so overwhelmingly to join the United Synagogue. As a small community on the border with London, this provides us with an exciting opportunity to become part of a large family and establish Luton as an attractive community within easy reach of the London Jewish centres. We are looking forward to developing our community in the coming years within the US.”
David Kaplan, Director of Community Services, added: “We welcome this week’s vote by the Luton Hebrew Congregation in favour of joining the United Synagogue. We will now wait for the US Council meeting in July which will formally vote on accepting this new community into the US family.”
