BARNET TO JOIN US
Barnet Synagogue is set to become a full member of the United Synagogue, following an overwhelming vote by members to move from affiliated status.
The move, which will be put to a US council meeting in July for formal adoption, came during an EGM attended by nearly 100 members of the shul.
The Synagogue's chair Paul Kleinman said: "We see this as the right time for Barnet to become part of the wider community embodied within the United Synagogue and as the next step in this wonderful and vibrant community's development."
US President Simon Hochhauser said: "The essence of the United Synagogue lies in the mutual nature of the relationship between its communities. We want to give our member synagogues the clear message that their destiny lies very much in their own hands."
