TRIBE AMBASSADORS MEET WITH NEW ISRAELI AMBASSADOR

The finalists of TRIBE’s Ambassador competition 2007 sampled a taste of diplomatic life when they visited the Israeli Embassy to meet with the new Israeli Ambassador, His Excellency Ron Proser.

The budding diplomats spent the afternoon listening to the Ambassador speak about the unique role he has as the Israeli Ambassador in the UK. The students were then given the chance to ask any questions, and were encouraged by His Excellency to continue being proactive in all they do.

The finalists of the competition, also run in association with BICOM and JNF included the winning team of eleven students from King Solomon High School who had battled it out against JFS. The winning team presented the best pitch for an Israel advocacy programme which will be rolled out nationwide in honour of Israel’s 60th birthday. The triumph not only won them a visit to the Israeli Embassy, but also a trip to Israel where they will have the opportunity to meet the heads of many Israel Advocacy programmes and government officials.

Israeli Ambassador Ron Proser said “I’m incredibly proud to see such a talented group of young ambassadors. Without you, our work here would be incomplete. You are talking to the grassroots, where the seeds of positive thoughts about Israel begin. I, and the whole State of Israel, am looking forward to a long and wonderful partnership with all of you”.

Charlotte Klein, Programme and Leadership Director of Tribe commented “To be invited to the Israeli Embassy was a great honour, and it was a wonderful experience for the Ambassador winners. They had worked so hard and put together an outstanding programme for Israel Advocacy. Hopefully the day only fuelled them to further continue their good work.”
