FINSBURY PARK FIRST
The United Synagogue’s Finsbury Park community held its first Shabbat service in its new building last weekend. The community, which has spent the last 18 months in temporary accommodation, will now be based on the ground floor of a new residential development on the same site as the previous shul. It has inherited pews, the Ark and mechitzah from Cricklewood Synagogue.
After negotiations with the Community Development Group of the US, property development company Higgins Homes agreed to include a new shul in their plans. It even provided temporary accommodation for the congregation and built a bimah for the new synagogue.
