UNITED SYNAGOGUE MEETS THE CHALLENGE OF A GROWING KOSHER MARKET
This week sees the launch of the Summer 2010 Kosher Nosh Guide with lots of products being given the KLBD (Kashrut Division of the London Beth Din) certification for the first time including Bounty which has for many years been listed as non-kosher in the guide.
The list of KLBD certified products has been extended to include Mars Planets, Milky Way, Galaxy Counters, Galaxy Smooth and Dark, Snickers Cruncher and Twix. In addition to these treats there are newly approved products throughout the guide from cereal bars to fruit snacks, popcorn to yoghurts.
Over 4,000 school children will receive a free copy of the guide as part of the distribution of tens of thousands of copies across the UK. With nearly 50% of Jewish children now attending Jewish schools and learning about kosher food, the United Synagogue’s KLBD Kosher Nosh Guide provides crucial up to date information on which snacks are allowed.
Rabbi Jeremy Conway, KLBD Kashrut Director said: "With more and more kids at Jewish schools and a tremendous increase in kosher facilities across the community, there comes a greater commitment to keeping kosher and an increased demand for information particularly on new snacks and nosh items. We have stepped up to meet this challenge and are making sure that kids, teens, students and parents have all the latest information on what is kosher."
