The United Synagogue - A Journey of a Lifetime

In order to ensure that the United Synagogue Family of Communities that we all know and love remains strong and vibrant in the future, we must invest in a wide range of programmes and services that give our 25,000 young people reason to want to be part of that family.

More than this, we must also provide support and contact and a sense of real belonging to the community for people of all ages over the entire Jewish lifecycle from birth to final rest.

Below are examples of just some of the services the United Synagogue must fund from Legacies:-

From the Birth of a Child...
The United Synagogue welcomes newborn babies and their parents into the community with a visit or letter from the Rabbi, accompanied by a baby gift pack filled with gifts for the baby and contact details about the United Synagogue Community for the young parents.

To a Child's First Steps and Early Years...
The United Synagogue provides positive Jewish experiences for young children in their formative years, so that they will want to be part of the community later in life. From after school clubs to festival fun packs, the legacy campaign will be supporting a wide range of attractive programmes for kids.

To a Starring Role as a Barmitzvah Boy or Batmitzvah Girl...
The United Synagogue will continue to support its young people as they progress through adolescence and the teenage years by supporting primary and secondary schools; training Jewish teachers; and helping recruit, train and support youth directors to inspire literally thousands of young people. The United Synagogue will be there for our young people as they pass through the important milestone of Bar and Batmitzvah.

To Leaving Home for the First Time and Progressing into Young Adulthood and Joining a Community as a New Member...
The United Synagogue will keep in contact with our young people as they progress to going on a Gap Year in Israel; leaving home to go on Campus as Students; and returning back to join their community in their own right as a new member.

The United Synagogue will provide Campus Ambassadors to keep the connection between our young people on campus and their community; an Israel office to keep in contact with young people on a Gap Year in Israel; and a special attractive and highly affordable new membership package to ensure thousands more young adults join the community.

To Standing Under the Chuppah...
The United Synagogue family of communities provides a ready made social network for young men and women to meet and marry. We provide a marriage preparation programme; Mikvaot; Beth Din and a team of Rabbanim who are skilled and sensitive in the practical application of marriage counselling and advice.

To Adulthood...
The United Synagogue provides a wealth of volunteering opportunities and ways for adults to become involved in their community. We even have a volunteers awards evening each year to celebrate the contributions of our volunteers. Whether ones interests are religious; social; or welfare of the elderly and disadvantaged, the United Synagogue provides volunteering opportunities in all areas.

To a Peaceful, Dignified Final Rest...
The United Synagogue will continue to support the provision of Bereavement Counselling; Tahara; Kaddish and the training of Rabbanim in pastoral care for the bereaved, sick and elderly.

For nearly 140 years the United Synagogue has been dedicated to building Jewish communities. Today there are 62 United Synagogue communities with 27,000 households representing an estimated 100,000 people.

No other organisation has contributed more to British Jewish communal life than the United Synagogue and no other Organisation can so positively influence the next generation of British Jewry. By leaving a legacy to the United Synagogue you will be helping to build a better future for the Community.

An Invitation to Provide for the Community

Every new generation needs the help of the generation that goes before. By making a provision in your Will to support the work of the United Synagogue you will be helping to ensure a better future for the Community.
