Training & Seminars


The Community Division arrange the following training programmes and Seminars:

1. Annual Board of Management seminars for ALL members of Boards and their Honorary Officers


These seminars are a chance for:

• Networking
• Exploring current issues
• Obtaining advice on efficient shul management
• Understanding legislation eg the US byelaws, Health and Safety etc

2. Wardens’ seminar

These seminars cover topics such as:

• The relationship between the Warden and his rabbi
• How to manage the religious needs of the community


3. Chairman’s seminar

These seminars are a chance for chairmen and vice chairman to discuss and explore common issues relating to their communities. Discussion topics have included:

• The relationship with the rabbi and other Honorary Officers
• How to run an efficient and effective BOM
• The importance of attracting new members


4. Portfolio seminars

Seminars are held with special focus on specific shul Board of Management portfolios. These can be:

• Chairing the cheder committee
• House management
• Children’s services (in conjunction with the AJE)
• Marketing and communication
• Fundraising
• Carers
• Adult education
• Youth activities (in conjunction with TRIBE)
