Since its inception, the JTTP has grown from strength to strength. We estimate that we have trained 25% of the current Jewish day school teaching force. Of these, a significant number have moved quickly into positions of authority. They include heads of department, deputy head teachers and head teachers. This reflects not only the quality of the training they received through the JTTP but also the quality of the candidates themselves in terms of their skill, intelligence and teaching commitment.
The JTTP is fortunate to work in partnership with quality people and institutions, which include Hertfordshire, London Metropolitan, Middlesex and Roehampton Universities. We are also privileged to work with the majority of voluntary aided and a growing number of independent schools in the Jewish day school network, who not only provide classroom experience for our trainees, but also quality headteachers and mentors to support them.
The Jewish Teacher Training Partnership was formed through a formal agreement between the United Synagogue Agency for Jewish Education and the United Jewish Israel Appeal (UJIA) to provide quality initial teacher training for Jewish Studies teachers in London and Manchester.
