Our President & Trustees

The Trustees of the United Synagogue are elected to take on overall responsibility for what is a large and complex charity. They serve for a three-year term. The current team assumed office in July 2008.

Keith Barnett - Vice President

Keith is a Vice President of the United Synagogue and has a long background with the organisation, starting from when he received his Jewish education at a US cheder! Born and raised in Kenton, he attended a United Synagogue youth movement (JYSG) and obtained his religious inspiration from three outstanding United Synagogue Rabbis – even ending up marrying the daughter of one of them!

Keith served on the Boards of Management of Kenton, South Hampstead and Hampstead Garden Suburb synagogues and as warden of both of the latter two. Up until 2003, he served on the US council and was previously involved with the Board of Deputies. In the early 90s he was also involved with the drafting of the Kalms Report and, in particular, the section concerning US property. In his professional life, Keith works as a partner in a City law firm and communally, has a particular interest in outreach and youth development.
